March 1, 2012 Thur Day 21 Cooper Pedy

Howdy mate.

Coffee and cookies first thing in the morning...every morning.  TimTams all gone.

No rain, but a little cool still.  Fuel stop and away we go. 8 am.
Rain started and we drove all day in the rain.
The landscape grew more visibly impoverished, and the traffic thinned out from little to almost none.
The landscape on either side an emptiness punctuated by spinifex, low bushes, rocks and almost nothing else.

Spuds Road House.  Immy getting coffee.

We saw wild Emu several times today while driving.

Miles and miles of desert.

The last 25 k. the fuel light came on, and Marcel coasted when possible. We sincerely hoped we had                   enough fuel to get to the next gas station.  Wherever that was.
We chugged into the station on the last vapor of diesel.  Made it.  A lesson learned. From now on we would jointly keep a steady eye on the fuel gauge and not let it dip too low.

Cooper Pedy

Arrived in Cooper Pedy at 4 o'clock.    530 k today.
Camping here is $38.70.  First campsite in Adelaide was $120.  Showers are 20cents. (20c coins here.)

  2. I can't believe how red the earth is.
The smile on Marcel and Peter's faces as they are enjoying the cookies is priceless! I guess I won't ask you to bring me home any Tim Tam cookies with those two around!
We miss you and have fun!
