March 25, 2012 Sun Day 45 Cairns

After sleeping for 11 hours straight, we were too late for church.  So, I blogged 6 hrs in the front office to catch up a bit.  Late afternoon we then decided to go to a small town called Kuranda.

This banana tree is in the front yard of our villa.

Spectacular view in front and behind our villa.  We are surrounded by mountains.

We left at 3 in the afternoon, but by the time we got to Kuranda, the last bus had left, so most of the shops were closed.  This one was open and Marcel bought a belt.

Such a cute town with all little shops. We weren't too upset about the closed shops.
That also meant no crowds.  Lovely walk.
The previous day a cruise ship was in, and this town was packed.  Much better this way.

We found a restaurant that was open called Frog's Restaurant.
We ate outside and had a pizza and a beer.

A scenic (and catch our breath stop) on our way home.
Peter has been the designated driver, and Marcel & Chrissy the navigators.
The wipers keep coming on when it's not raining. lol
About 10 k of snaky roads to the town.  Much more than in NZ even.
Naturally, it's much easier to maneuver a small car than the large motor home. And Peter took full advantage of that.  At one point Immy said her stomach did a lurch.  Still great fun.

  1. What a beautiful, quaint little town. Once again beautiful colours of Nature.
Immy, you should be used to Peter's driving by now!
