March 11, 2011 Sun Day 31 Alice Springs

Termite Mounds

A common sight in the Top End of Australia, these mounds of dirt are home to the grass eating Termites
We saw thousands of these while driving.

 More Galah birds. Cuckatoo family

A message from Janice that the time changed here as well as home.
But nope...not here.  Almost made us late for church.

Sturt's Desert Rose. Floral emblem of Australia's Northern Territory.

After church, we had lunch in the mh, and drove to "The Desert Park".
Another botanical garden.

Dusky Grass Wren

Red-tailed black Cockatoo

White Faced Heron

Thorny Devil Lizard

Lizard

Fenced in Red Kangaroo

Unbearably hot today.
Back to the campsite for our usual swim in the pool to cool off

  1. I liked the lizard picture - what great camouflage!
I didn't know they came like that. I thought they were all sleek...
I'm loving the birds and flowers, and wish I were there to see them. I'd pass on the cockroach, though!

  2. That thorny devil lizard is one weird looking little critter. Marcel, where is your hat in that hot, blaring sun?

I know that Jennie would love seeing this unbelievable look at Mother Nature with you.

I can't believe the energy the four of you have! You're like the Eveready Bunny ... you just keep going and going and going ...
